NEOM: Made to Change
NEOM didn't arrive as a brief. It arrived feeling like a summons in front of Saudi royalty.
The platform was called Made to Change, led creatively by Brad Reilly and Alex van Rensburg, and it took two years of our lives because the work never stopped.
Made to Change was less a brand platform than an operating system for a place that didn't exist yet: launch films tracing humanity's history of reinvention inspired by Gesaffelstein's Pursuit music video, a giant mirrored line cutting through desert, a ski resort called Trojena where no snow had ever fallen, a Formula E race turning speed into a value system.
Every piece was an argument for optimism at industrial scale, reimagining how we live, move, work, and power cities, built from a desert because there was nothing else.
It all converged in What is NEOM, a search insight campaign that turned the world's skepticism into the hook itself, and put NEOM on the desktop of every audience that mattered.
The project was otherworldly, building mythology in real time for a country reinventing its own story. It wasn't until we started writing ‘What is NEOM’ that I understood what the brief had actually been asking of us all along.
