‘Mama Said’
‘Mama Said’ is a portrait of a gritty youth shaped by the absence of healthy bonds. Through Tony, we explore a need for connection that had to be silenced to survive, but never disappeared.
The film is built around a duality. Tony is both strong and fragile, two sides of the same story. What appears as resilience is also a form of protection. What looks like control carries the weight of what has been suppressed.
Rather than leaning into drill aesthetics, the video moves into a more timeless space. It becomes a metaphor for what it means to endure, to grow in hostile conditions, and the cost of doing so.
At its core, the film reframes strength. Not as hardness, but as the ability to face and expose one’s own fragility without shame.
